How to play Mission Control

You run Meridian Bank for four years. Two decisions per year, six board objectives, and a system that remembers every move you make — and every move you don't.

Step 1

Choose your seat at the helm

Four personas. Each changes your starting position and how the banking system responds to your decisions.

Read the Executive briefing first — it explains the situation at Meridian, the six board objectives you're measured against, and the constraint: two decisions per year.

Then switch to the Choose your seat tab. Each persona has a unique backstory, starting stats, and passive ability. Click View profile → on any card to read their full dossier before committing.

💡 The Outsider is the balanced starting point. Try them first to learn the baseline before experimenting with personas that tilt the board.

Step 2

Read the board objectives

Six metrics define success. Each tile shows your current value, the FY4 target, and a progress bar. Tap any tile to flip it for a plain-English explanation.

The six objectives are Growth, ROE, Cost–income ratio, CET1 capital, NPL ratio, and Customer score. A green ● MET badge means you've hit the target. Gold highlights warn you when a metric is drifting toward danger.

The Year briefing below the grid shows market conditions and advisor coaching. Tap it to expand — your advisor warns you about lag effects, capital buffers, and what's coming next.

💡 Watch the delta numbers after each commit — they show exactly what moved and by how much. Green = helping the objective, rose = hurting it.
Step 3

Pick two decisions per year

Nine possible moves, split across business and technology. Each decision moves more than one number — and some consequences won't arrive until later years.

You have two slots each year. Click a card to select it — a green checkmark and glow confirms your choice. The preview strip below each card shows exactly which metrics will move and in which direction.

Chips tell the story: green "↑" chips show immediate benefits, rose "↓" chips show trade-offs, and gold "+ later" chips warn you about lag effects. Click Commit year (or press Enter) to lock in your choices.

💡 Lag effects are the hidden curriculum. A loan booked in FY1 reports its losses in FY3. Technology costs now, pays later. Sequence matters — data platform before AI doubles the payoff.

Step 4

Watch the consequences unfold

After every commit, the consequence log shows exactly what happened — decisions, events, delayed effects, and system feedback loops.

Consequence log — colour-coded decisions, events and loops

Each row is color-coded: cyan for your decisions, steel for market events, gold for delayed effects arriving from past years, rose for crisis alerts, and green for system feedback loops.

The summary headline at the top of each year's feed gives you an at-a-glance read: objectives met, current score. The chain labels show you the causal path — e.g. PRICE → VOLUME → MARGIN → FRANCHISE.

💡 The consequence log reads newest-first. Scroll down to retrace the full four-year chain of events that led to your outcome.
Step 5

Study the driver tree

The value driver tree shows how your decisions flow through the three engines of the bank: Profit, Franchise, and Resilience. Connectors glow with each year's impact.

The tree has three branches, each mapping to two board metrics. When you commit a year, the connectors glow cyan, green, or rose depending on which metrics moved and in which direction.

The Enterprise value apex shows your current score and objectives-met count. This is the number the board cares about — it combines hitting targets with margin above them, plus bonuses for synergies and penalties for crises.

💡 After each commit, the page auto-scrolls to the driver tree. Watch the connectors — they teach you which decisions feed which loops and where the system pushes back.

Step 6

Read your debrief

After FY4, the debrief screen breaks down your entire run across four tabs. This is where the learning happens.

Debrief scorecard after FY4

Scorecard — Your final metrics vs. targets, archetype verdict, score, and any discoveries you unlocked.

Impact — Which decisions helped most and hurt most, plus the full retrospective of every decision by fiscal year with realised scores.

Reflect — Tailored reflection questions based on what happened in your run. The system asks about what you missed, what surprised you, and what you'd do differently.

Learn — A learning path summary: what you discovered, what you missed, what to try next, and a system lesson explaining the key dynamic your run illustrates.

💡 Copy your result with 📋 to share it, or hit ⟳ Replay same to try the exact same persona again — see if a different decision sequence changes the outcome.
